![]() Meet Mr. Myagi our new Alpine Buck Kid. The day of my last blog post we brought Myagi and Crystal, a Doe in milk, home. The first week was tough. Crystal has never been away from home and at 4 years old left 2 kids as well. She was stressed and a bit sick that first week. It took a lot of work to get her to trust me and relax enough to get well and eat. I literally had to force her to drink water from a bottle I drenched her mouth with. Lots of probiotic, vitamins, electrolytes and a dose of dewormer and she's fine. Little Miss Distrusting now calls to me at the crack of dawn to feed her. She also yells when she wants me in her pen to stand by while she eats. I am now the herd boss and apparently she doesn't eat as well when I'm not standing there. I'm trying to video tape her demands and antics. Myagi is Mr. Personality and makes me smile every chance he can. He's Bela's new BFF. Crystal is the first animal since putting Shasta, my Siberian Husky Down in 2006. Crystal was born 7 months after Shasta passed. She reminds me of her. Her bond is strangely similar. Who knows maybe Shasta is back, if not I love this Mama goat and no matter how much work it is I gladly do it. She is giving me over 1/2 Gallon a Milk a day and it's increasing as she gets better. We have another dairy goat coming from the same herd. Sadie will be here next weekend. She is still feeding 2 kids and a foster kid. She is a Saanen, black and white and so beautiful. I've successfully made 2 batches of cheese and intend on doing soap next. When I have the patience to separate cream I will do butter. So I've not disappeared but I've become engrossed in Life. As I get to watch these two animals go about Life I am remembering what it is really about, Love. Love of another, Love of Oneself and Love of the Creator of All That Is.
