Sunburn Remedy 09/07/2011
I spent a weekend off, finally! I took the kids camping at Navajo Lake and we floated in the water on tubes. It was tremendous fun! Unfortunately, much of my body has not been exposed to sun in a very long time. My arms, face and shoulders get a lot of sun while I work on projects. My back, stomach, and legs, do not. After returning from my relaxing weekend, I had the worst sunburn of my life. It hurt to sit, lay down and even wear clothes. I searched for natural remedies and found I had the makings of a great remedy. My girls and I took a bath in Apple Cider Vinegar, followed by adding a quart of fresh Raw Goats Milk. Within hours, the burn began to subside and turn to tan. Instantly my skin cooled and became less irritated. I also used some lavender oil for the really bad burned areas. I am happy to say, the remedy worked like a dream. If you don't have goats like me, you can purchase goat milk at your local natural food store either fresh or in a can. I used about 2 cups of apple cider vinegar, then added the quart of goats milk. Enjoy the last part of summer and make sure you have some Apple Cider Vinegar and goats milk handy if you burn! I woke up this morning from a dream and realized it's been a while since I posted a blog. The dream was strange for sure and I only remember minute details. The one thing I clearly remember is someone asking me, "Do you know Bernadette's story". Not my story, Saint Bernadette. I know the story well, she is someone I've seen as a role model to others facing hardships. Maybe because of my name I resonate with her, most likely though its other things. She was blessed with vision and stood alone. Interesting to note, On February 11, 1858 (yup tomorrow) marks the anniversary of the first visit she had with the Blessed Mother. "St. Bernadette was born at Lourdes, France. Her parents were very poor and she herself was in poor health. One Thursday, February 11, 1858, when she was sent with her younger sister and a friend to gather firewood, a very beautiful Lady appeared to her above a rose bush in a grotto called Massabielle. The lovely Lady was dressed in blue and white. She smiled at Bernadette and then made the sign of the cross with a rosary of ivory and gold. Bernadette fell on her knees, took out her own rosary and began to pray the rosary. The beautiful Lady was God's Mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary. She appeared to Bernadette seventeen other times and spoke with her. She told Bernadette that she should pray sinners, do penance and have a chapel built there in her honor. Many people did not believe Bernadette when she spoke of her vision. She had to suffer much. But one day Our Lady told Bernadette to dig in the mud. As she did, a spring of water began to flow. The next day it continued to grow larger and larger. Many miracles happened when people began to use this water. When Bernadette was older, she became a nun. She was always very humble. More than anything else, she desired not to be praised. Once a nun asked her if she had temptations of pride because she was favored by the Blessed Mother. "How can I?" she answered quickly. "The Blessed Virgin chose me only because I was the most ignorant." What humility! " ~ excerpt from catholic.org I hope you remember her tomorrow as we mark the anniversary of her first visions and visitations. She taught us how to overcome illness, pride and loneliness. She is an exemplary symbol of a healer. A Story of Healing by Kurt Zellerhoff 01/02/2011
One day about two years ago I had noticed my employer was limping and complaining about a knee problem. I asked him had he seen the doctor. He said "of course". He was on pain killers and told to ice it every hour, typical doctor response. About this man, he is 60 years old, has lived through alot of things in his life. I think that some of his experiences through his life allowed healing to work for him quite quickly. He really is a great man I appreciate him alot. He is arrogant as all get out, yet is always gracious for the work that is done for him. He is also Jewish by birth and I am Christian. I say this because there is a difference between the faiths yet we get along really well. So a couple days go by and I run into him in a parking lot. I asked him how his knee was. He responded "no better, no worse". As I talked to him a little I did notice the ice pack on his knee. Numbing it was the only way the pain was bearable. I also asked him "how long has this been going on"? He responded "on and off for five years". Basically this was a chronic problem and was getting worse. I did feel his pain, I saw it in his face and actions. Not only did this pain affect him physically it also affected his reactions to other people. I asked him to give me the ice pack. He said "NO". So I asked again and again. He reluctantly gave me the ice pack. I explained to him "I am going to lay my hands on you and pray". His eyes got wide in this comment, I asked him to please close his eyes and open his mind to get rid of the pain. While laying my hands on him and praying, you could feel the warmth coming from his body. The prayer that I said is a simple prayer. Within a minute or two I was done. Immediately after I was done he asked for the ice pack back, I gave it to him. Now at this point I had to explain to him a couple of things. Most important, he had to work with me on this. He must ask the pain to go away. He also has to ask his body what it needs to heal. These simple questions allowed his self healing body to concentrate on the problem. It just needed a little push to accelerate. I was done and he went on his way. I contacted him about a week later and this is the story he told. First thing he said to me was "thank you, I dont know what you did but it worked". So I asked "did you do the things I asked"? Yes was the response. He craved some different things he did not before. He listened to his body and gave it, he listened to his body and the healing power that is so freely given. When he opened his mind and listened he healed within two days. On the third day he went on a 5 mile hike UP a mountain with No pain. For having a chronic problem for years just simple help from someone and simply helping himself, he was cured. To this day I ask him periodically "how's the knee"? Always the response is "I don't know what you did but I am grateful". This was submitted by a friend and fellow healer. Really shows that one's faith can heal and is an absolute sign of unconditional love! | Bernadette's Blog
